On most auctions, I simply enter my max price and if someone wants to snipe it for more (and it happens a lot), I really don't care as I feel they are overpaying for the item.

The only time I will try and "snipe" an auction is when I am trying to get a "chip on the cheap". For instance, if a $20 AC chip is selling for $1, I'll go after it just for the value play.

The reason I don't bid these ahead of time is that I want the chip for the $1 and I don't want to lose it to some muttenhead for $1.25
