I think the current building on the strip will force Boyd to raze the Stardust soon. I stayed there in 1985 and had a blast, but as time wore on, it was not kind to the Stardust.
The place has a lot of history - Frank Rosenthal, Joey Lupo, etc. They've dropped the floor show and have gone back to name, yet older, entertainers: Wayne Newton, Joan Rivers, et al.
I think the last time I was there, they changed the signage from the neat 50-60 space-age type font to a non-descript one and I could spit harder than the shower pressure in the tower.
Bottom line, it's a second rate joint that is now catering to, let's say, the older crowd. Borgata is jumping based on younger, more affluent players.
For me, I'll miss the Silver Slipper much more as it never pretended to be any more than the sign said. Stardust used to advertise itself as the World's Finest Resort, but it really needs to be relegated to the pages of history. Same to be said for the Frontier, though I like it's rich history much more.
I do love the Stardust early chips though.
