Hi Terry,
In Colorado the "compensation" for preparing the quarterly sales tax forms was 1/3 of a percent of the taxes collected. That changed within the last year and I now get .233% to do the paperwork.
It should be more in my opinion, but I may be a bit biased due to the nature of my biz. I have retail taxable sales, retail out-of-state non-taxable sales, wholesale in-state and out-of-state non-taxable sales, retail sales that are a split of taxable parts and non-taxable service labor, AND I have sales to tax exempt governmental and religious entities. Keeping track of, and categorizing all of these different types of sales is a pain in the butt!
I'd think that a casino paying sales taxes on a purchase of chips to use in the casino would be the same thing as their purchasing light bulbs. They buy them for use in running the business, not as items for resale. It'd be the same thing as my buying warehouse shelving or tools. While those items might be crucial to my conducting business, they aren't what I'm selling.
