Re: Your example supports this completely

David,

Just hit my 25th year of collecting although i only joined the club when I decided to become a dealer of the chips I had collected over the years. This was to convey to those buying from me, that as a member, I was bound by the Code of Ethics. This would help assure prospective buyers they could trust that I listed items as I knew them to be to the best of my knowledge.

My point was not related to divulging inventories whatsoever, I am not being clear.

You are right no one has to divulge how many they have of an item but thy cannot falsely list something or knowingly mislead. Big Difference.

Regardless of how many chips are in anyone's inventory, no one can mislead or deceive buyers by saying an item is R-9(for example) when they know by their own inventory or other knowledge it is only an R3.

That is explicitly what Rule 9 is all about.

If the seller has superior knowledge (know the rarity of item is only R-3 by their own inventory) and take advantage of their superior knowledge to the disadvantage of a less knowledgeable collector (who thinks item is R-9 by the seller's listing or other) they have unquestionably broken the rules, whether any of us, respected or not, like it.

Sorry for the confusion, as I received one email about divulging inventories as well.

Nothing to do with Divulging inventories.

Only about listing items for sale truthfully and accurately and not "knowingly deceiving the buyers". This is paryticularly applicable when anyones inventory alone makes an item more common than is public knowledge.

I didn't make the rules, I am just stating the rules.

Some members have emailed that they were not aware of the rule!
