I missed out on your contest and did't participate but don't let someone's negative complaint ruin your fun. Based on the participation, it appears to me that a great number of people enjoyed playing in it.

I agree with Phyllis, there are a lot of other stuff that clogs up the board that I would rather see get axed than the contests that members put out there.

The only thing I would suggest is that you run them a little longer so that those of us the check the board once or twice a day would have a chance! Maybe only one guess per member, until you post a hint. That would cut down on the traffic if you are worried about it.
