...write such a poignant and frankly moving piece about the importance of dreams, even in the face of sometimes harsh reality. Thanks for making my day! Yeah, I admit, I used the subject line of this post to guarantee that this message would get read.
I am a bank examiner by trade, and am quite adept (IMHO) at looking at records, financial statements, strategic plans, etc., and pointing out many reasons why something won't work. I'm not saying that this realist perspective isn't necessary on the whole, but just not always productive for producing and exploring alternatives on how a goal CAN be accomplished.
Anyway, I could cast my critical eye on the building fund and its ultimate feasibility, but I believe that there are already many club members more capable than me performing such duties, and who also spend countless hours exploring how such dreams can come to fruition. I for one thank you for your post, for spurring in me a certain starry-eyed optimism.
As a result of such, my check for $100 to the building fund is in the mail to Mike Quinlivan today. If for no other reason, this will help guarantee to myself that my inner kid will always have a cool place to hang out and play. If it also helps a physical location come to pass in addition, so much the better.
Thank you again for your observations.
