Chips in Flips

When ever I get a chip, what few I've gotten so far, I worry about the soft flip it comes in. I take a Whitman blue box and turn it upside down, and place the chip so that part of it is on the ridge of the box and part of it is on the flat part of the box. This raises the chip on a slight angle. Then I put a box fan out and let low speed air blow over the chip for awhile. I even angle the fan down slightly by leaning it againt two coffee cans full of change. My hope is that if there is any PVC present it will evaporate.

Does anyone know if this does any good or if there's a more effective way of doing this? Or if this is even worth worrying about?

I've become rather paranoid about soft flips from Silver Art Bars. Seems like everyone I've ever bought was in one of those soft pouches since 1974. I usually soak Art Bars for a couple of hours in acetone.

But if I get a chip from a dealer that's in a soft flip is it even worth worrying about? As popular as chip collecting is it's nearly impossible for me to believe a chip in a flip has been in a dealers stock for more than a couple of months.
