Wow! What a great time I had!
There were around 120 people at The Chip Board Get-Together on Tuesday night. As always, the Palms took care of us very well. It was great to be able to get with so many of you and chit chat before the official convention got underway.
The highlight of the show had to be Bob Maheu at the banquet. What an interesting life this gentleman has had. He is still as sharp at 86 as most people are at 30. I can't wait to get the DVD so that I can see it all again.
I didn't make it past the first round of the BJ tournament. I made it until about 30 minutes after the first break in the poker tournament.
The no limit holdem game after the tournament was one of the best times I had. I was kickin ass and takin' names for a while, that is until Will Knight sat down and beat my 3 Kings with a full boat. Andy warned me, I should've listened. Then I got a little cocky and gave Doug Smith his money back, with interest! We played for around 5 hours and I can't wait to do it again next year!
The show floor was great, and very busy it seemed. I think most of the dealers were very happy with their sales. I know one was in particular!
I got to meet a lot of people in person that I had only known via the board. That is always nice. I picked up a couple nice chips, far fewer than any previous year, but I am happy with what I got.
The auction was real nice. Dick Covington put together a nice powerpoint presentation with all the chips. It really adds a lot to the auction to be able to see what it is you are bidding on. Kruse & Tyrus did their usual fine job as did everyone else who worked the auction. It takes about 20 people to pull that thing off and it is a ton of work. Congrats!
Thanks to Jim Follis and Pam for inviting me over for lunch Sunday. I had a great time and filled up on the wonderful spread. Thanks to Archie and Brenda for the ride over and to Jim and Barbara for the ride back to the Riv.
Our convention is a 1st class affair. It's that way because of Jim & Sandi Steffner and a whole slew of volunteers who give a considerable amount of time and effort to make it so. Thanks to all of you for making it what it is.
And last, but not least, thanks to the Top Dollar machine that spit out a $720 winner just 30 minutes before I left and almost caught me back up for the trip!
