The Chip Board Archive 11

Rusty, I was there and I agree...

A box did not show up, although I certainly saw a few characters fitting your "hermit" description show up at the Registration desk.

The only new info I learned about these chips is that the first one to show up was sold by one of our regular dealers at a chip show over a year ago (maybe two years ago). That dealer does not recall where or how he got the chip. The new owner presented it to the TCR authors who thought it to be genuine and unique. That placed it at the "X" value level.

Later, and before TCR X came out, they were contacted by an owner of two more of the chips. Based on three (3) being in existance, they kept the value at "X".

As these go into collector hands, they become less available. Of the 13 known (by these accounts) only 8 are available to other collectors. The four you have left, three of the four I have and one of the two that the other collector has.

I suspect however, that the four you have are more readily available than the 3 and 1 extras being held by the 2 collectors as duplicates. As I have told you and stated to others, I am interested if others exist, as I have an interest in the value being correct. As it stands now, we are in a very precarious and threatening situation. TCR X carries a value of "X" ($600) for the chip. If more that these 13 come out, I suspect that the "X" value will be referenced. If only 13 really do exist, then the current eBay sale price of $160.00 is low.

Bottom line... I think it is in all our best interests (as collectors) that we try to recognize just how many of these there are. If you see or hear of more, I woulf greatly appreciate hearing from you.

If you wish for me to hold your contact (or information) in confidence, I will honor that. However, even though I will read all of my email, I am not interested in anonymous information (that cannot be confirmed).

Thank you,

Jim Follis
