I honestly don't know whether or not I would fall into that group. What I do know is that I need the $5 Bally's Chip for my collection and I can easily afford to win that auction if I really wanted to.

However, winning the auction at a price that is more than I would pay simply buying the chip from a reputable dealer wouldn't indicate that I have deep pockets... it would simply indicate that I'm just plain stupid.

If these guys are willing to pay anything for a chip, why screw around with ebay? They should just contact a collector/dealer and place a large order.

I haven't been at this very long but I can already tell that the chips I will value the most won't be rarest, those with the highest values, or those that I bought outright. It will be those that I can point to and say "let me tell you the story behind that one...."
