You are quite correct to take umbrage with such treatment. Some people will either play or pass, so the polite response is "Thank you anyway but that is not enough". Others are willing to deal and perhaps will respond with another price. Only the rude and ignorant just ignore you. Unfortunately our society has produced too many rude and ignorant people.
