I just thought I'd share a few thoughts of mine on reserve bid auctions.
I can underatand why some people want to have a reserve price. But what I also wonder about is why they don't just state what the reserve amount is.
Wouldn't it make sense? This would let the potential bidders know if they should invest the time to watch the auction and bid.
Why not put the reserve price right there in the description, big and bold and plain as day.
Sellers....no problem that you want to start the auction low to save on listing fees. No problem that you want to get a minumum price. Give the buyer an idea of the minimum price that the auction has to end up !
Personally, I have gotten tired of watching and bidding on auctions that have failed to go up to the reserve price. This has happened lots of times to me. Sometimes I've been the only bidder, other times I was one bidder of only two or three. I've gotten tired of watching and bidding on auctions with reserves that have ended up way above what I thought was a fair price.
So, come on...how about putting the reserve price right there in the description. I have a feeling that it will only bring on good things.
JMHO.
