Hiya Tom. This chip is listed in Nevada chip guides as Thunderbird, Las Vegas 1948. Once a high valued chip, several hundred were found in 2001. A fair price on this chip is $25.
There is debate as to the true attribution of this chip. I want it to be Las Vegas so that's what I'm claiming! Unique similarity between the TBird image and the Las Vegas marquee is one good argument and I gather that these chips are being found in Nevada. On the other side of the coin, several respected chip researchers believe this is a Missouri chip. Some of the styling cues of this chip support that line of thought. I'm wondering if a midwestern gambler working in Las Vegas for his legal health might be responsible for causing this chip to be created.
A very nice chip in either case and an object to be enjoyed.
