Gambling losses are deductable.

Just a minor nitpick - gambling losses are deductible to the extent of winnings. While these guys may not blow all their winnings gambling, I've heard many of the pro's do lose a lot.

For us more average joes, it help to remember that if you go lose $1,000 at the casino you can't offset your salary with it.
