I was a McCarren on my way home when I had my chip briefcase with me. I placed it on the conveyor belt, it went through the x-ray, then they wanted me to open it up. It wasn't a problem and no big deal,so I just opened the case up. They examined the chips and i was on my way.

So my recommendation is to use and carry-on a chip briefcase
