imposed by the airlines, there is no prohibition of chips and strikes in carry-on baggage. I do it almost every other week between. Chips stacked in racks or square tubes do look strange in the x-ray machines, while strikes look like solid metal cylinders.
I suggest having them packed in such a way as to be visable when your luggage is opened. Using plastic racks wrapped in clear Saran wrap works real well.
It also helps to tell the examiner, while viewing the x-ray that they are chips and metal tokens. Remember, the FAA/TSA limits carry-on to one bag and one personal item (like a purse, briefcase, computer case).
If you check your bags (with chips and tokens) I highly recommend the see-thru Saran wrap method. If you wrap with tape and non-see through box or other material, the TSA Inspectors will likely NOT do a good re-wrapping when the open the funny looking packages with a cylindrical (PIPE-BOMB) appearance.
See you there.
