Mike - here is the hard data to support my statement. eBay is #6 in the most popular 500 sites. JPA isn't found in the top 500, and it's my opinion they aren't even in the top 5,000, 10,000 or even 50,000. See if YOU can find them anywhere in the top 500.

Now what do you have to say? Nothing is my guess. It IS a fact Mike! If you'd like to rebut my assertion - please bring some facts of your own to the table.
As far as top sellers - do you see Bill Akeman or Les Lawrence selling at JPA? No! To sell there without a resrve would be giving chips away.
The top seller statement is self-evident. Their presence on eBay and absence at JPA if factual. If you don't believe it, you're in denial.
Mike - JPA specializes in what? Low-end chips? Ok - I'll buy that and overall it's not a bad place to get some things if that's what you are looking to buy.
I bought a few things there and strikes, as Norm pointed out, do a pretty good trade. My buying experience with JPA and Norm is all positive - they are all good people.
All I am saying is the site is clunky and not user-friendly. Repeated log-ins is a problem that Norm admits and he wants to fix it, among other things. His response to my initial post shows his frustration in getting some of these issues resolved.
I considered eBay's advertising and other things you mentioned. The net resut: JPA is a distant second to eBay on chips.
Since JPA specializes in only chips, strikes and casino-related stuff, they should be able to carve out a market niche and KO eBay in the long run. They are not trying to draw a general audience, just chippers and they are failing in that small market in a big way.
Chippers are willing to support other chippers. if JPA had the chips eBay does, I'd stick to JPA and wave goodby to "FeeBay" as Norm calls them. I'm on JPA's side - I hope they will become the premire chip auction site, but they need to make some serious changes and develop a strategy to make it happen. If I bought the thing today, I would still be 2nd to eBay in 5 years, but I'd be a lot closer than JPA will be if history is any indicator.
I'm not "spewing" Mike - I call 'em as I see 'em. Nobody in their right mind thinks eBay isn't head and shoulders above JPA. And no - I am not confusing opinions and facts. I think you are confusing my statements as a personal attack on JPA - it isn't, so ease up.
It is a fact that eBay is way above JPA in functionality, ease of use, abundance of chips and sales. The metrics (link at top of post) clearly shows that eBay is #6, while JPA isn't even on the radar. That's not MY opinion Mike - it's a documented fact - by a third party that has no stake in who is where. Want to rebut that assertion - bring some facts Mike.
Isn't it a fact that you can view all of JPA's listings in less than 10 minutes, while it would take hours to page through eBay's? Again - the fact here is self-evident Mike - it's not an opinion.
Mike - you like to argue - or let's say "debate" - ok I am all for that. The truth won't suffer from an open and honest debate; it will stand on its own.
But you should stop trying to bait me into a flame war. I am trying to be civil and stick to the issue at hand, not go off on some personal attack.
You can voice your opinion of me - by all means go ahead. It's just another example of how people are confusing finding flaws in JPA with a personal attack on the principles that run JPA. I think highly of them, but find their web site lacking in many respects.
Since you labor under the misconception that a defamation suit is a myth, I'd be careful. If you cross the line, I won't hesitate for an instant. I won't even ask for a retraction in your case. Since you seem to want to go that route, I'll accomodate you without delay should the need arise and I hope it doesn't. I don't need to be a lawyer to represent myself Mike. Can you say "Pro Se"? I knew you could.
The last thing I wanna do is go about suing club members, or anyone else for that matter; however, I have filed suit in the past and done very well for a pro se litigant. I just won't stand for being defamed and nobody should have to put up with that. If we stick to the facts and drop the personal attacks, it's not an issue, so stop with the baiting.
Same with the fictional tale Mike Spinetti puts on the World Trade Center chips. I am attacking the story as 99% fiction, but some have construed that as an attack on Mike. Of course people come out of the wood-work to attack me but I haven't seen a single person who wants to address the facts.
My dealings with Mike showed him to be a great seller and an honest person. Gold on a $1 chip? Be serious! It would cost a lot more than $1 to make the thing. Plain common sense will lead you to the conclusion that it isn't gold.
He didn't even get the deceased guy's name correct, and if you take the time to read the newspaper accounts, you'll soon get the message that Mike's story and the verifiable story don't jive.

I don't see anyone asking Mike to prove his assertion that the chips have gold on them. Gee why is that I wonder?
Now as far as asking your friend at Naval Intel. to trace an IP - you can do that yourself. Today I am in a far away land. Try tracing IP addresses here:
This particular IP is very, very hard to trace, but it's in Korea. So I can be whoever I want from wherever I can find a usable IP (and there are thousands) whenever I want.
Now calm down and stick to the facts and we can have a debate that might produce some helpful suggestions for JPA.
If you had a chip worth, say $1500-$2200, would you list it on feeBay, or JPA?
Which site so you think would produce the greatest bid for that hypothetical chip?
Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is and actually list two identical chips on the two sites?
My own personal research has shown that the exact same chip will fetch a better price and more bids on feeBay each and every time.
