This is an odd chip. Both sides look the same except the one on the right has a hologram effect, making it look a bit 3D. It doesn't really show well in the scan.

The "hologram effect" you see is called a Moiré Pattern (pronounced more-ay). Moiré patterns are caused by interference between two sets of fine pattern grids, in this case, the tiny dots that make up the image and the texture on the plastic surface of the chip.
Official Version:
The reason that the one side has the effect that he is talking about is that it was made on a crosshatch mold. Sometimes when the dots on the mold and the dots on the artwork line up in a certain way it gives the inlay an almost lenticular look.
