Well I spent most of last night at work thinking about the replies to the NGC question and the Fitzgerald hoard and I decided against buying one. I can understand, all too well, why you would want to keep slabs out of chip collecting. Slabs, market grading and especially the insipid 11 uncirculated grades have, IMO, destroyed the fun in coin collecting. It all began as something necessary--authentication--in the 70's and did not involve slabs but black and white certificates. I still have one from 1979. What started out as something useful and necessary has become a Tower of Bable. Although I really like the idea of having one of those sets documented to the Fitzgerald hoard I also don't want to do something that contributes to the Towers existence.
