Hi Jim...I know there is a pro & con on "cleaning"
chips. I for one do clean them as I cant really
stand a dirty grimy chip. I really dont believe the underlying history of a particular chip changes by removing the grime. Is cleaning a chip
altering? While some would disagree I say no. I
HAVE seen chips I believe were altered. One very
recently on ebay. I saw a $2.50 sands AC chip where the crosshatching was so incredibly pronounced I suspected it as fake. Naturally I
didnt bother to bid on it. While ebay is a good
vehicle for obtaining chips every scan is different. When I dont see what I want to see I
pass it up. Just love those blurry scans!
