Several years ago there was an Educational Forum that was conducted at the club's annual convention dealing with just this subject about standardizing a Universal Numbering System for chips.

Not much interest was shown, as indicated by the poor audience turnout, and the project was dropped after a lot of years work was put in on it by Bob Ginsburg of Connecticut and others.

I even had a model of a cross-reference chart using this system for A.C. chips published in one of my earlier A.C. Catalogs ... which was less than enthusiastically received.
