As many of you already know Japanese mega-conglomerate Sony Corporation has made a bid to buy the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer movie studio from majority owner Tracinda Corporation for $5 Billion Dollars. (Note: MGM Mirage is not part of the movie studio).
After consulting the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office I found out the MGM Mirage does not own the MGM Mirage, MGM Grand brand names and logos nor do they own the Leo The Lion logo, these are owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Lion Corporation a subsidary of the movie studio.
Now my question is if Sony is successful in purchasing the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer movie studio how does everyone think this will affect the corporate side of MGM Mirage will they revert back to simply Mirage Resorts and what about the MGM Grand Casino/Hotels in Las Vegas and Detroit will they have to change their names to something else or do you think Sony will continue a licensing agreement with MGM Mirage for them to use the name.
