Regarding tokens (Jason may have more info)

A number of casinos use £2.50 tokens for blackjack rather than cash. Some use both. These tokens seem to be disappearing. As the vast majority of UK casinos are now owned by Gala, Grosvenor and Stanley, the introduction of 'generic' chips with no casino name is occurring more regularly. Metal tokens are being phased out at the same time.

The London Park Tower for example had 'their own' £2.50 chip and issued a new design of this last year. Within a very short period they changed it to a coin, and then again to a generic Grosvenor chip.

£2.50's are hard to acquire in any form. Obtainable only at the blackjack tables or in the very rare instance that a £5 bet is placed on an even money roulette bet. If you get a blackjack and pocket the chip, and then subsequently get another one, you will be 'ordered' to return the one in your pocket so that they can give you a £5 instead. Most casinos only ever had a rack or two of £2.50's made, and each table only has one chip per player in the rack (or less).
