Most of the machines take £20 notes as well now and they have switched to 'paper ticket' payout as well. Some are testing a new system where you use a 'slot card' that you charge up in a machine with your credit card.

Because the UK has a law imposing a maximum 'plastic card' withdrawal of £1,000 per 24 hours they are trying this system rather than allowing credit cards to be used in the machines.

The fees for using credit cards to top up the slot cards is as extortionate as a cash withdrawal in LV without a PIN# - about £45 per £1,000.
