While I like the open format, which encourages easy access, the door swings both ways.
Requiring a verified name, with email and password makes it more work for imposters, trolling, spam and the trash that comes and goes.
I understand why IP addresses are shown, so we can all see when some imposter starts writing messages, or to ID the source of the messages, because the disruptive elements leave no email address, use a fake ID and don't realize they ca be traced back through the IP address.
For the small effort it takes, one time, for legitimate users to sign up, it would remove many of the reoccuring problems.
For the complaints about freedom or speech and censorship or how people have some sort of rights. It's Gregs BB and he owns it. We are guests in his internet home.
You don't go into a friends home and start re-arranging the furniture and painting the walls a different color. Some people have the no shoes rule, many have no smoking.
What the Trolls want is to walk in with their muddy work boots on, smoking a cigar and claim they have some special rights.
It's Greg's BB, it's his internet home, he can do what he wants with it.
I'm happy to be able to visit and share messages here with friends.
