David... I have to disagree a bit...
In Response To: What was the opening price?? ()

I believe value is in the beholder. There are some chips in my collection that most people wouldn't pay nearly what I did for and I was happy to get them. Likewise, others have chips they would pay dearly for that I might look at and think "not a penny over face".

Almost every chip in my collection has a price. Some are absurd. Some would probably make a chipper salivate. I believe a seller should list an item for whatever they would be happy to get for it and not a penny less. I believe a buyer should not bid more a penny more than they'd be happy to get the item for.

So, to me, the mere act of listing a chip for way over book is not misrepresentation of its value.

Now.. I said just a bit because, let's be honest, you can skew someone's sense of value in marketing, listing, and relisting a chip in certain ways. Particularly if you have a lot of an item considered rare and only put out one every so often. To me, that's almost like insider trading. Again, though, the buyer doesn't have to buy.
