One of my Palms poker dealers was made VP of Elisnor and opened Spotlight 29. Only table games was allowed at the time, no slots.
It was failing miserably to make projected numbers.
Rudy Prieto was GM & VP of Elsinor at the time. He later became president of The Taj in AC, now President of LV Hilton.
He made some changes at Spotlight 29.
He sent me there to see what was needed to get the joint in line with numbers projected. Steve Cutlers wife was sent with me to see what could be done to get retail sales off the ground.
I reported back to Rudy, best to cut the loses and get out. Projected numbers could not be made.
Within a few weeks the tribe moved slot machines in. The sheriff came and got them. The tribe moved more slots in. NV gaming ordered Elisnore to get out or face losing their NV license. I think this all happend around 1995.
There was a piece in the paper about 2002 that said Elisnor finally got the last of their money from the tribe.
