I don't know how secure your mailbox is Mike, but I've had a box on the street for about 34 years. Not many problems, that I know of. However I had a local kid that stole a check and cashed it at the corner pharmacy.

So weeks go by and I finally call the guy who said "the check is in the mail." and he says, what do you mean, the check was cashed... call the police, they get the check, go to the pharmacy, the guy remembers the kid, because he thought it was suspicious. BUSTED!

I had someone send me a token in a plain business envelope. How crazy. Not a chipper but someone on ebay, and of all things, I got it.

If people are going to mail chips in regular envelopes, they are going to have problems.

Since it seems some people have more problems than others, and considering our own carriers shouldn't be foolish enough to be repeat offenders, because they will get nailed. I wonder if someone isn't watching and stealing after delivery? Mike for example, how many money orders can just get "dammaged in machinery" coming to one person?

Another problem is that when something gets broken out of an envelope by accident, there's no way to match it with the other thousands of letters. So it just gets tossed into the lost and found, or maybe the trash.

I'm not cliaming that postal employees are pure as the fresh fallen snow, but there are other possibilities to consider before casting blame to the easiest target.

A plain envelope for mailing coins or chips or the like, is just begging for trouble, whether it's an accidental loss or a thief.
