If that is an actual racing shot of the Derby and a Churchill spire in the background, you can be damn sure Trump ponied up for the rights. No date on that chip as with the other you posted, unfortunately. But a highly cool chip. Anybody know if that is an actual Derby photo and maybe what horse it is?

My point in labeling chips as "official Derby" chips is not to be overly technical. It's just that with all the generic stuff that comes out about the Derby (as with the Super Bowl), it is a real treat to have some chips come out with actual photos of Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Funny Cide, etc. That's a whole different level; so I call them official. I call a chip that says "Big Game Day" a nearby, whereas if it says "Super Bowl XXXIV" it's the real thing.

Also, I consider any chip with the image a Derby winning jockey to be an official Derby chip. There's several of them, including the recent Pincay chips and the Hollywood Park "Top Jocks" series. If you got a chip commemmorating an actual Derby participant of any sort, THAT is a DERBY chip, in capital letters, IMO.

Sorry if I'm a little over-the-top on the subject. Maybe I'll write an article for the magazine about Derby chips.
