Jim,

To add to John's post. The hand must be shown to win the Jackpot's. For example you can have four of a kind and are raising it up. The player your playing against decides to fold, then your out of luck.

Also some "high hand" and "bad beat" jackpots have requirement for certain cards to be hold cards. Like in Tunica one time a player had a straight flush, but only one card of the straight flush was in his hand, so his jackpot was less than what it could have been if he had two pieces in his hold cards.
