I had the opportunity to make my first visit to the Turning Stone casino in upstate New York this weekend. The casino is in Verona, NY which is about a 1/2 hour east of Syracuse, 1.5 hours west of Albany or 4 hours north and west of New York City. The casino is literally right next to the New York State thruway at exit 33, easy on and off. It is a medium sized modern indian reservation casino, 100's of slots and maybe 50 table games. All the regular games. You would not know notice any differences between this casino and a Nevada or Atlantic City casino as far as the games are played. With one exception. The slot machines are cashless. Your slot card is used like an ATM card. You put money on the card to start out. Before you can play, you put the slot card in the machine and enter your PIN#. This prevents others from using your card. The card keeps track of your account balance. At the end of the night, you can withdraw your balance, if there is anything left. The use of the slot card in this manner makes it impossible to find slot cards that others have forgotten in the machine. I have a few extra of the "Express Card" and the $1 chips, but that is it.
