And even better its based on one of my favorite subjects. Poker!
I went to Dallas this past weekend for the Dallas Antique Market, to look for chips, oh and something about my kids wanting to go to Six Flags.
Well I didn't have much luck. So I decided to take the wife to the Ft Worth Art Festival. My wife has collected art for many years. And since she doesn't read this board, I can say not much of what she has appeals to me. So when we went this weekend I was happy to find an artist that I not only like his work, he also had a print that was based on a subject that appealed to me.
Its called "Bad Dogs". The artist is named Barry Kite. His work is basically social and political parody via the "re-positioning" of art historical and contemporary media imagery. And you guessed it, its a parody of our most famous poker playing dogs. But at a much higher cost then those prints. Boy why is art so expensive? *bg*
Anyway, I'm not an art critic or anything like that. And some of my ideas are a little off kilter so I guess that is why I like his work. Just thought I would share my excitement. Its going to look great framed in my card room. Its a large print. Maybe 2' x 4', so I think it will make an immediate impact.
