Thanks to the efforts of Steve Goodrich, I think I finally have a handle on what is considered "illegal" in the Pacific Northwest. Now, another nagging state is giving me trouble.

What in California constitutes an "illegal" and how do I identify it? I pretty much know that an club offering gambling without a license is technically illegal, but is there a good source to find out if the club had a license?

I have many chips from California which I expect are from legal card rooms, but without knowing for sure, I hate to give them up. Any help?
