there's nothing new about people selling their chips. People sell off their duplicates, old stock, and parts of their collections they're no longer interested in all the time. It's just that before the only place they had to do it was on eBay, and most people don't have time for all the work that requires.
The only thing that's new on this front is that 2Chippers is a new avenue and outlet for collectors to use to sell their chips. We're a great alternative for those who don't want all the work and hassle of scanning, pricing, listing, packing, and shipping hundreds of chips. This is attracting a lot of customers and consignors, and because I advertise every chip I list here, you see a high volume of chips - more than anywhere else except eBay.
And because our inventory is that of every-day joe's (not dealers), the chips are all priced very reasonably because our consignors just want to get their investment out of them - they're not trying to make money by listing at a premium. These low prices combined with a huge variety are attracting a ton of customers, which in turn, are attracting more and more consignors.
So there's really nothing "happening to the hobby". It's just that you're seeing some people finally getting the opportunity to sell some of their chips that haven't had the time or energy to do so in the past.
