There are many ways in which the Message Board can be viewed. Although I suspect that many of us have it set up to post newer 1st tier messages above previously posted 1st tier message and to have responses to those 1st tier messages appear below and indented to the their associated 1st tier messages, one can actually make them do the reverse.
You can also have preferences set up such that only newer messages appear, while older ones are on other pages.
I suggest that you take a look at the set preferences link (on the Index Page) and see the variables, not so much for you to select what you want, but so that you understand that of the hundereds of readers here, not everyone views the BBS in the same manner.
Therefore, you cannot get a message to be a part of a thread and also have it display at the top of the page for everyone. You can do it for yourself by:
Go to Set Preferences. Select List Messages to 1 hour, or posted since last visit.
Then, go to the thread, post a reply and then exit the URL and come back. Your posted reply will be at the top (unless other messages were posted in the brief moment you were away).
This should work, but to me it is a horrible way to view the BBS.
For me, I set my List Messages to 2 days. This way, any messages posted within 48 hours will be displayed. For me I have better continuity of how threads were constructed.
I also have them as Threaded List and Mixed Order.
I hope this helps.
