I used to work for the Milwaukee Road in the 1970's and was involved in ordering new and rebuilding old locomotives. I think my boss was the guy who thought of the idea of cuting off the high nose of the old locomotives so you could see where you were going. We did that to all of our GP9 locomotives and called them GP20's.
