Here is his description in the 1st auction.
I FOUND OUT TODAY FROM DOUG BOYD & CT COINS THAT OUT OF 10 BOXES OF THESE CHIPS, 9 BOXES WERE COMPLETLY DESTROYED. THE PIT BOSS AT THE TIME ASKED IF HE COULD KEEP THE LAST BOX & WAS TOLD HE COULD KEEP THE BOX BUT HAD TO PAY $1 FOR EACH OF THE CHIPS. THERE ARE 90 CHIPS PER BOX....MOST OF THESE CHIPS ARE BEING BOUGHT UP BY COLLECTORS FOR THERE PERSONAL COLLECTION & VERY FEW WILL EVER BE RELEASED. I JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME
There was a thread on the BB at the time.
I posted this.
Per The Burt Co manufacturing records 250 boxes (25,000) of these chips were delivered in 1972.
