Criticism of the war in Iraq does not, in an of itself, equate to "supporting and agreeing with our enemies". Hell, now that the Hussein regime has collapsed, I'm not sure we even know who our "enemies" are over there.
>> If you need to critize our president ... just don't aid and abet

To take the war in Iraq (and, in particular, its ongoing consequences) out of the equation during the coming election would mean ignoring the most important issue in the election. And, in effect, giving Bush a pass on that issue. In a democratic society, that is simply unacceptable.
As you know, I volunteered to work on Wes Clark's campaign, in part because I know him personally. I have no particular enthusiasm for John Kerry. In response to a recent request from the Clark campaign that I volunteer to work for Kerry, I wrote:
>> I respect John Kerry's performance in combat during the Vietnam war.
>> Nothing he has done since warrants comparable respect.
>> If Kerry picks either Wes or John McCain as his running mate, I may
>> reconsider. For the time being, however, I'll pass.
