In their private moments, many of our military leaders, both past and current, are NOT happy with the way GWB is prosecuting the war in Iraq.
Many think we should not have gone there to begin with and even more think that if we were going to go, we should have gone with more troops and greater force. Bush wanted to look "strong", but he also wanted to do it "on the cheap". As is usually the case with leaders who think like that, he's discovering that you can't have it both ways.
We are now beginning to see the problems resulting from the undercommitment of military force to this operation. I fear it will, like Vietnam, turn into a "quagmire".
BTW, I don't think it takes particularly big balls to pick on a much smaller country with a marginal economy and decidedly inferior military capability.
I support our fighting men and women without qualification. I just hate to see so many of their lives being wasted for what appears to me to be insufficient cause.
