There are several live auctions, including the ones run by the Chip club each summer in Las Vegas, by Doug Saito for Chip Chat, and occasionally at other chip shows. I believe all require you to be a member of the organization sponsoring them, or in Doug's case, a subscriber to his newsletter. This can usually be done on-site though, and the cost is not exhorbitant for someone who just wants to bid.
