Numerous threads are still starting as a result of the postings from Mark Karoll and subsequently myself (later deleted).
In an attempt to avoid receiving a further 50 emails an hour to explain why the posts were deleted, I will merely state that the current position is as follows, until anyone else can positively confirm or disprove this.
1. The policy regarding the prohibition of the letters 'LTD' and and any serial numbers is already in force and has been for approximately one week.
2. NO OTHER regulation changes have been officially made at this time.
3. The suggested requirement for casinos to have 50% or more of chips on the tables is true BUT
(a) It will no doubt be heavily challenged before any changes are made as it is impractical as;
(b) it was made with reference to the face value of THE ENTIRE STOCK of a casino's chips and has no bearing on any issue of COMMEMORATIVE style chips.
IT IS NOT AS YET A REGULATION (and may never be)
4. There is NO SUGGESTION of any changes to Silver Strikes of any value.
5. The Four Queens have pulled their commemorative chips and issued a redemption notice as part of their recent change of ownership. This is not related to any changes in regulations (although the speculation as to whether THEY will produce any more may be). In time the house chips may well be changed as well.
6. A number of casinos in Las Vegas have already had 'approved' new commemorative designs with 'LTD' and serial numbers omitted to be released in due course under current regulations.
7. Any policy of 'no chips from the cage' is an internal one, not a Gaming Board Regulation
I HOPE THIS DOES NOT SPARK MORE HEATED DEBATE - IT IS TO TRY AND MAKE THE 'CURRENT' POSITION CLEAR TO MANY PEOPLE.
