By the way, anyone know any of the history of "Brother Johathan", the greeter who is mentioned on the inside of one of the matches? Bernard van der Steen was his name. He's indexed in The Green Felt Jungle on the www in case anyone has a copy. Page 228.
Also, here's an extract from a religious reteat web site:
------------------------------------------------
Bernard van der Steen was a retreatant at Mater Dolorosa; making retreats in the old Monastery building. He was a good friend of Fr. Boniface and he supported mission work in Tijuana. In a letter written by Mr. van der Steen, he says to Fr. Boniface, “I am temporarily out of a large supply of surplus cash funds and I cannot help you at this time.” In the same letter, he mentions about setting up his Trust. Mr. van der Steen was giving Mater Dolorosa a greater gift than anything Fr. Boniface could have asked at that time. By setting up a trust, he assured that Mater Dolorosa and the Passionists would continue to benefit from his generosity for their future!
Born in Holland, Mr. van der Steen came to the United States in 1923. Bernard went from being an immigrant youth to being California Man of the Year! He was a dynamic business man, developing a consortium of businesses. He owned several hotels in California, including the famous Del Mar. He evoked his Dutch heritage in establishing a working citrus ranch in the heart of California date country called “Wooden Shoe Ranch.”
Most of all, Bernard van der Steen was a sterling example of a man who lives his faith. He befriended many priests and while, he had a private audience with Pope Paul VI, he wasn’t beyond responding to the needs of many humble missionaries. He is remembered with loving gratitude for his generosity to Mater Dolorosa.

The "JC" in the symbol on the same match undoubtedly refers to this organization. But why on a match from a Las Vegas Casino????
