Will - I have a lot of respect for you and your opinion, but I don't think it's all bad.

How is producing chips strictly for collectors a good thing? In essence they are not really "gaming transaction pieces" because they never see the table.

They are simply "a source for generating additional revenue through chip collecting." (from Chipco's Web Site)

Is a LE chip with an issue of 10,000 really a collectable? I just don't see it.

IMO - it's just a stone's throw from Franklin Mint "collectables."

Sorry you all are down about it, but I see a silver lining - less "cartoon" chips and created collectables to clutter the market.
