I can't imagine a more detrimental blow to our hobby. This is a dark, dark day for chip collectors (NV collectors at least). I imagine that at the very least...
1) Casinos will produce fewer and fewer LE's
2) NIS's expenses will increase because they'll actually have to sit and gamble at a table to get chips. Plus they won't be able to get them in quantity (hundreds at a time) AND they'll have to sneak them out of the casino.
3) Due to number 2, available quantities of chips will drop and prices will rise.
4) Due to number 3, sales will drop and some NIS's may even go out of business. Then the availability of chips will be even less and prices could rise even higher.
5) Fewer new collectors will find the hobby as attractive due to all of the above.
6) Some existing collectors may even quit the hobby because it becomes prohibitively expensive and difficult to keep up with their collections.
I'm sure there are many more side-effects, but I think that's enough gloom-and-doom for one post.
I think I'll go break out my Don McLean album and listen to American Pie.
