Wait and See

I see all sorts of posts hinting that "the sky is falling" and there won't be LEs anymore.

I'd want to see the actual regulation, in print. (not that Mark isn't a very reliable source)

From what he wrote it says "LTD" and issue numbers will be barred. That chips will be made available on the tables as well as at the cage. That the words on the chip won't include reference to collecting.

I don't know why a convention chip can't be issued for the CC>CC as long as it doesn't say collectors edition or collectors. But Gaming isn't stupid! grin

What this will produce and prevent, is a level playing field and an end to insider deals and possible abuse.

I know it causes a problem for some casinos, because collectors will come to the tables and want to buy specific chips, disrupting the gamblers. I know some casino will institute the rule that you must play to get chips. (OK buy in and walk away, don't be a pest)

I see an end to lines at the Hard Rock where chips are sold, not intended for gaming at all. Now the people with line fillers won't have to pay those people, so they can grab extraordinary numbers of chips to be marketed on eBay.

Looks like a PITA for the NIS folks, but they have lists of customers and can use any first come, first served system, that they wish. Getting the needed chips might be easier and less time consuming than before. Walk up and buy them.

I don't understand the Min. 50% in play and Max. 50% in the cage rule. If it's at the begining of the fill, I suppose it's extra work, but who's going to check on day 99? 50% go out the first day... 50% of what's in the cage goes into play the second day. 50% of what's left goes into play the third day, and so on. There will never be more than 50% in the cage. grin The issue is distributed onto the tables over a period of time.

Example: 1,000 chip issue. Day 1 500 go into play, day 2 250, day 3 125, day 4 63, day 5 31, last day 31. (no sales from the cage for the first week)

I could be wrong, but the intention of the rule might be to have the chips used for gambling, on the tables, and not as a pure sales item.

What an interesting concept. Casino chips made and used for casino gambling!
