I really don't have any advice to give, but my first car was a '65 T-Bird and I still love the way they look. It was a great car, but mine had one problem that still perplexes me to this day. The steering wheel pulled to the right constantly when the motor was running. Something in the power steering was screwed up. You could be sitting still, start the motor, and if the pavement was slick enough to let the tires slip, the steering wheel would turn all the way to the right until it locked.

Doesn't that model also have the swing-away steering wheel?
