To Members of the Board:
(now retyping this because my computer froze in the interim, and my text was lost .)
Thanks to all who replied. Yeah, normally I'm Mr. Capitalist all the way, and so wasn't sure why I felt like a bit of a carpet bagger in this instance. Maybe it was because it was right before Christmas, so he seemed like he 'needed' the money, or because his wife came with him to the sale, and I almost got the hint that she was 'making' him sell them.
Thing is, when I play Monopoly with family and friends there is nothing I like more than a little carpet bagging when someone lands on my properties (I actually use the chips when we play Monopoly, but that's a different discussion), so I don't know why I had a problem doing it in this case .
Anyway, I think I found a 'best case' solution (suggested by someone here on the board). I will smash them, so as to preserve the 'scarcity' of the other 1100 that I have left . Actually, when I finally get off my keister and put them up for auction, I will donate the proceeds to the building fund. That way we all win, and I get an even bigger warm fuzzy . For my friend? I'll buy pizza next time he comes over to poker night .
Of course, even as I type this feeling all philanthropic, I am eyening an eBay auction for something I want in my collection. So I can't promise that Mr. Capitalist won't win out after all... .
