Is the item only collectable because of price or it’s aesthetic value? If it is ONLY collectable because of price, smash 'em all, otherwise preserve them for the sake of the item itself.
A post was made some time ago about a collector buying up all or most all of a particular LE chip and making a deep scar across all but a few of them to make the price increase on the ones not scared (that he kept). This is a malicious act, not one from the heart of a collector.
The difference between a collector and an investor is that the collector cares less what the value is, where as the investor cares ONLY what the value is. We all stand somewhere in that grey area in-between somewhere. In my currency collection I know the value of very few notes, because that is not why I collect them plus, some are of great value because of where (who) they came from.
YOU MAKE THE CALL…. Smash or Preserve??
