Is eBay getting more and more crooked or am I just more skeptical?
Someone gave me a Compaq 1200 laptop that the screen had been damaged and a couple of other minor cosmetic damages. I connected it to a power supply and charged the battery then connected it to a monitor, worked perfectly. So now I am in the market for a working screen…. I go to eBay and find one just listed for 99¢ on a 6 day auction, seeing the other auctions closing around $90. I emailed the seller and propose she end the auction, I instantly pay her $90, and save us both the wait. If the offer was not acceptable then a counteroffer would be welcomed. No reply
The auction got a bid- from a guy with a 48 rating 10 NEGS (a sellers nightmare)
Next a bid comes in- from a guy with a 51 rating and has NEVER bought (only sold)
Next a bid comes in- again from a guy with a 4 rating and has NEVER bought (only sold)
Does this sound funny? Possibility: Seller emails friends to bid to shake the bad buyer out and runs up price since there is a known buyer out there who wants it for at least $90?
Hmmmm maybe I’m just skeptical…..
