Well, VCR for working folks, retirees may have to miss some of Regis and Dr. Phil. 3/18 11:45 am PST on Turner Movie Classics is the movie Reno from 1939. Looked it up on imdb and it looks pretty interesting, from a pretty thoughtful viewer review by Michael Asimow:
"Reno" is a decent B movie about about the life and times of a Nevada divorce lawyer. We first meet William Shear as the proprietor of a Reno gambling casino. Strangely he is found to have a crooked roulette wheel. At his preliminary hearing, we learn his story and ultimately determine why this previously honest and respected casino owner resorted to cheating.
Would be pretty cool if they had some shots of Viginia St. or Center St. Colbrandt's Flamingo Club? The Willows or The Doghouse! Before the advent of legal gaming in Nevada, divorce was big business in Reno and there were some pretty nice nightspots in town. The gambling thing was seen as something new that could suppliment the splitsville industry. Sound like this could be an good opportunity to try and spot some locations, interiors and chips if there are location shots.
